Network Administrator
This position is responsible for support and maintenance of corporate information systems and security. Successful candidate will have three years experience and a solid working understanding of network security including an ability to configure and support intrusion detection systems, VPNs and firewalls. An understanding of IP networking, such as routers, routing protocols and switches is also important. Position requires oversight of organizational responsibilities to meet or exceed business objectives and Service Level Agreements. In addition to network security, the position requires troubleshooting of hardware, software, peripherals, connectivity and security policy issues as required. This Position requires the staff to research, test, and evaluate solutions including hardware. Position also requires individual to develop and document new procedures and standards as required by business activities (i.e. HIPAA). Position also requires an individual to work with other IT groups as well as user groups to meet or exceed company objectives. Good communication, interpersonal skills are required. This position will be providing services for an enterprise class system where access to sensitive information exists.
Primary responsibilities:
Ensure the smooth operation of communication networks in order to provide maximum performance and availability for users (Staff, clients, customers, etc). Provide support for a multiple location network. Assist with installation, configuration and maintenance of new/existing hardware and software infrastructure. Setting up user accounts, permissions and password. Undertake routine preventative measures and implementation, maintenance and monitor network security. Providing training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge and competence. Assist help desk personnel and team as needed. Work closely with other departments/organizations and collaborate with other IT staff and client. Must be customer friendly to provide professional and courteous service. Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments efficiently, able to operate independently, and have a strong level of attention to detail. Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in an efficient and timely manner. Coordinate with other team members to resolve problems if necessary. Support hardware/software installations, upgrades and migrations. Assists in the creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and other documentation. Ability to communicate moderately complex or technical information, ideas and results effectively in both oral and written form; compose correspondence. Perform Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Disaster Recovery activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
Related Skills & Other Requirements:
At least three years of Network Administration experience plus a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Must have strong analytical and problem resolution skills. Ability to take initiative, maintains confidentiality, remain flexible, and meet deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate with people at all levels, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational skills. Excellent customer service and teamwork skills required. Flexibility to work overtime and on weekends in support of special requests (minimal). Willingness to travel (10-15%). Routing and Switching experience, with solid networking fundamentals required. Work with minimal supervision of managers, leads and assists junior resources in resolving routine problems, and is capable of resolving non-routine problems. Must be able to track and report progress on a weekly basis to Director of IT. Experience working in a high-stress, fast-paced, detail oriented environment. Must be able to juggle multiple competing deadlines. Must be able to function as the technical lead on small projects or portions of larger projects. Experience solving problems to develop recommendations for business solutions or technical application. Must have experience working with minimal supervision by managers, leads and assists junior consultants in resolving routine problems, and is capable of working in an environment of competing priorities.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Understanding and experience with server installation and maintenance desired. Understanding of relational databases including Oracle, MySQL and experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) highly desired. Experience with Apache Tomcat and Oracle backups. Experience with Virtual server applications (VMware preferably). Experience with Linux OS: Experience with firewalls and patch updates. Prior experience with failover automation.

| Sr Database Administrator | Candidate for this position must have 7-10 years experience in multiple relational database designs and platforms. Experience with Oracle and SQL, and other databases, will be a plus. Prior project management experience will be helpful. The candidate must have excellent end-user communication skills in order to function as a team player as necessary to achieve project completion. This is in a financial setting and the candidate needs to have the ability to translate business processes and objectives into design specifications.
